Hi All,

Just wanting to get some general feedback about teaching over the summer on a short term contract( be it any country, though I am particularly interesting in those who have taught in the UK ).

What was it like?
How was the pay?
The hours?
etc.

Tis the season for such questions. Have seen 4 or 5 similar posts recently.

Hours and pay are nice things to know, but are you even going to be able to work? What I mean is, working usually requires getting a work visa, and in Japan at least, you get them for a minimum of a year, usually because the contracts are for a year. Summer work as far as I know doesn't sponsor work visas except in very special cases (like from your own country's university hosting such a thing overseas).

As for pay, will any summer work really be financially worth it? Better find out who (if anyone) pays airfare, because that will be a big chunk out of your pocket otherwise, and you may not be able to make back everything you pay just to get there and put a roof over your head.
