I am an American. I just went to file for self employment and was told that I could not apply because I am not part of the EU. I have a temporary resident card because I am married to a Pole. I have a PSEL, NIP and a really cool ID card! Is there anyone out there that is not part of the EU that has been able to get self employment? I was told that if I was granted temporary residency for another reason other than marriage I could apply? So that is why there are so many Kebab shops around here! I guess it doesnt matter that I have one child born in Poland and another one on the way. Evil Americans trying to set up those horrible schools ruining the whole country! |

I'm pretty sure that they are wrong to say that you can't. Let me check with a lawyer and get back to you. |

That seems very strange, I know there are at least several Americans on here who have these things. I opened mine when I had permission to work as an English teacher here. I know that some government offices and lawyers are surprised that I have it and try to tell me that it's not possible...
I would guess that it may, in fact, be the truth--can't get one on a marriage permit. I suppose you may have to get a school to get you a work permit first, then do it. |
