I'm trying to convince my school that have a course book isn't a bad thing. Right now as it is, every teacher does their own thing, so there's no consistency year to year. I'm pulling stuff together and often it's already been covered in other years And the materials are older than the kids. And you have no way of knowing what was covered last year.
I'm looking for a course that would be suitable for primary kids, mine are 10, but it would have to be a course that has levels from 1st to 5th grade. And has to have grammar, literature, listening, everything. We teach them for six hours a week. Mine are basically fluent, but make lots of basic mistakes espeically when it comes to questions or the past simple.
Oh, and it has to be BRitish English. Any suggetstions, because I'm at my wits end. |

A popular series used here in the UK for Japanese children is :
Backpack by Mario Herrera and Diane Pinkley, published by Longman.
It is in 7 levels from Beginner to Pre-Intermediate, and develops reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through a wide variety of projects , games, role-plays, songs and puzzles. There are pull-out Little Books (Starter to Level 3 for reading) and theme-based magazine pages (Levels 4-6).
Checkout their website <www.longman.com/backpack> and also

Hope this helps! |

Now, is it admin who teaches or you? I say, teacher knows best. I've been tutoring privately using this book and it's very good for primary students. Sure, you have to supplement to it as well but that's a start.
God, please make the day when admins will finally start doing their job come soon. Thanks! |

AMen. Or at least when they just leave us alone to do ours.
Though my vote is for Backpack before Way Ahead.
If you're concerned about accuracy and dealing with kids who are already fairly communicative, Megaflash is also worth a look.
Best

They pay my salary. It's decent, it does lack SOME stuff, but a book would be nice. I am using it, book five, but getting lots of guff for it. |

But they pay because you do YOUR job, right? That's why I am freelancer/self-employed: I say jump and admins ask how high. |
