I apologise in advance if this has already been covered on the forum but I can't seem to find any information related to the necessary documents needed to work legally, obtain a permit for work in Vienam for someone coming from the UK.

I would assume you'd need an original or copy of the following;
Degree certificate
TEFL qualification CELTA/Trinity
Copy of passport page
Passport photos
Subject access check... where do you get this notarised?

Does anyone know where I can get these documents notarised in the UK? What does it mean to have something notarised? Is it necessary?

Did any of you just head out there, got a job and sorted the legalities after getting a teaching post? Recommend it?

ok any info would be a great help...

All the stuff you listed you need (including a police check which takes forever) you can get it notarised at the British Embassy in Hanoi, easy as pie!

There is also another important reason to get your documents notorised when you get here -- the 'certified copies' are only valid if the signature on the stamp is listed with the Government Department.

What this means is you are wasting your money if you notorise them in your own country as the 'signature' will be not be on the Vietnamese Governments list.
