Hi all
I've been planning for years a move to the Gulf and though my intended destination is the UAE, a friend of mine in Kuwait has been nagging me for years to think about Kuwait instead. He says it will be a much better place for my family and I - he's Kuwaiti so he could be a bit biased - and though I'm still fairly certain I'll be heading to the UAE, I promised him I'd find out about Kuwait from other sources!
So my first big question is whether or not a Masters that was earned by distance is accepted in Kuwait. Of course I have many other questions (most of which are with regards to comparisons between the UAE and Q8, I admit ) but this has to be the first. This is how my masters is and if it's not something that's commonly accepted, I need not ask anything else .
Thanks for any info you can offer...cheers!

if it ain't approved by the minstry of higher education (authenitcated) it won't be recognized
many kuwaitis have - it may come as a SHOCK - but some kuwaitis have 'bought' degrees (can you believe it?) or had others write their theses , so the ministry has taken a real fine look at all degrees and distance degree is a definate NO NO |

You should check the UAE too - I remember reading something about distance degrees not being accepted there either. |

UAE last report... Ministry of Higher Education accepts them, but Ministry of Education does not.
So, they accept them for university teaching, but not for the schools.

I spent four long miserable years in Kuwait. The only highlight of my time there was the local amateur dramatics society. If I had a choice I would choose the UAE every time. |

Heya desert dawn;
I've been reading a lot through the Kuwait board to see what people thought of the place, but I'd be interested in hearing what your situation was like? What were some of the 'special treats' there that made your four years miserable? Where are you now?

I've also spent 4 years of my life in Kuwait but didn't exactly consider them to be miserable. I'd agree that Kuwait is probably the ugliest country in the whole world and the driving is frightening. However, the sun shines almost every day and there are things to do. Sport, beaches, restaurants galore (cheap and good) and of course, the amateur dramatics.
If you think Kuwait is bad, try Saudi! |
