|
|
A recent poll named McDonald's coffee the favorite of 1300 people in their 20s and 30s. Do people in Japan have such low standards when it comes to their java?
What's your favorite?
The coffee article can be found at:

I used to get mine at Doutor or Kohikan. |

McDonald's coffee is relatively cheaper so I can see more people going there.
Personally, I went to Doutor most of the time for my caffeine fix.

Doutor, but more for their pastrami sandwiches than their coffee. I'd go to starbucks for just coffee. |

Starbucks, although part of it might just be the comfort level in going there. Pronto is also pretty good. Doutor is also pretty good but my head explodes every time I try to pronounce it for some reason. Tully's. |

I limit myself to one cup of Costco's French Roast in the morning.
Enjoy,

Also, I have to admit that I found McDonald's coffee to be perfectly good, depending on the particular location. |

I'm in Brazil now, where the coffee is pretty damn good, but I miss Dotour, especially the one in Shibuya, on the street behind Tower Records. I always tried to sit upstairs, in a seat along the window. You could sit for hours and nobody would bother you. I also like the Pronto in Shinjuku (west side). Three levels, always a seat, lots of nooks and crannies. It turns into a shot bar at night. |

I am shocked at how acceptable McDonalds coffee is here. It is a step above the swill you'd get in the states. I'd take it over Starbucks any day. Starbucks is a bit better here than in the states, though. I think the coffee at Starbucks in America almost always tastes burnt. |

Yep. It's often referred to as 'Charbucks.' |

Out of a jar.
MacDonalds coffee/burgers/fries/almost everything else sucks, but the ice-cream is damn good. |

Excelsor, Starbucks, Tullys, Cafe de Creole, Veloce, Royal Host, Johnathans, Doutour.
I have heard that comment before about 'over roasted' coffee. Personally, I find 'Staba' coffee strong, something I like as it has a kick.
Doutor, well, to be honest I think their coffee is okay, but the size of the cup reminds me of the 'beer' glasses they use here at many places, something much smaller than the juice glasses I normally use. Their sashimi bagel sandos kick ass though!

Oh yeah! Veloce! I forgot about them. They're coffee is excellent and is cheaper than Starbucks. I also think they make an excellent iced coffee and I often went there last summer.
I agree I don't really understand the burnt Starbucks thing. I hear it a lot but I don't get it. I think their flavor is great and I don't remember ever having got a bad cup of coffee there.
McDonalds burgers, fries, etc. is crap, but I disagree about the coffee being crap. For a good cheap cup of coffee there isn't much better. It's a solid cup... But I don't usually go there since I'm usually willing to spend a bit more for a great cup. |

Oh, I did forget about Mr. Donut, which is also okay for the price (some 120 yen and up or so). Veloce is okay, but sometimes you have to endure the ring of smoke in salryman's heaven! |
