Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone has had experience teaching at this school or knows anyone who has. The going rate for the first 5 months is 28,000 B and I was wondering if that is enough to live on in Phuket without a struggle? Any useful information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

I've worked at the school for a few years now and can vouch for the school if you are dedicated and open to teamwork. The staff numbers have grown to accommodate the increasing student body, so all reports of large staff turnover are more sensational than real. For example, six teachers leaving from a staff of ten would be shocking. Ten from a staff of one hundred is pretty average when you take into account that many teachers are young and off on new adventures and challenges. I know that we have been doing exit interviews and the feedback has been generally positive.

I've seen teachers come and go and from what I can see, the teachers who either don't make it or don't like it are the ones who aren't prepared for the workload or the restrictions placed on foreign teachers in Asia. I came here expecting it to carry the same workload as schools back home and didn't have experience of the 'part time' teaching offered by many schools in Thailand (and Asia).

I have enjoyed my experience though there have been some frustrations, particularly as management have been wary until recently of allowing teaching staff to be part of serious decision-making. But I am happy to report that I have seen some positive changes in almost all departments of the school and we foreigners are feeling positive about many things. Many foreign teachers have proved their worth and their opinions and ideas are seriously considered and implemented. The Thai staff are also receiving training in not only English language but western style communication.

I would say come here if you are looking for a job that is more than just a few hours a day. I have come to be re-inspired by teaching and my chosen career.
