As the other thread got side-tracked.
Big city staff spent the day waiting to see if they had been posted to darkest Peru, many left today still wondering.
BTW the bit about starting on 15.3k last year is not a rumour, though I don't know of any ESL teachers who got it, only other subject specialists. |

Those getting sh(*)fted to CERT will retain their current HCT contract (ie with the 15% raise), but who knows what will happen when they seek a new one.

Is CERT the same thing as the B Ed. Education Faculty they are advertising for? |

So, what does CERT do these days? I heard that ZU took over their military contract.

I work for CERT and nothing has been said to me about the 15% increase or NOT. Do we get it or WHAT! Then again, what is a 15% increase of nothing? Many of us missed out on the last BIG 12% increase because we were hired after December 31st. That is, we have been waiting 18 months for a lousy 4% increase. Now HCT are getting picky and saying they are giving the BIG 15% increase to HCT employees only and the Military people as well. I may have a CERT contract, but I teach in the HCT program.
Because I am on a low salary - between 11,000 -12,000 Dhs a month, I have decided due to budget constraints and the dwindling Dirham with a mortgage to pay...which, I am in fear of losing, I can NOT go home for my holidays to visit my family. I will spend my time here, AGAIN teaching summer school.
I am at a point where I don't know what to do....or...WHAT are HCT doing? |

However VS DID hear right. ZU is doing some military teaching at Sweihan AB. Completely different kettle o' fish, tho.

One does need a scorecard to keep up.
Wasn't Sweihan part of the MLI contract? Since I knew that CERT inherited the MLI stuff, I was surprised at ZU teaching it.

Well, generally, you are right, VS. CERT DID take over most of the MLI and "Outreach" clients, but the military recontracted a handful. A fella who used to work with the MLI in a coordinator's position was summarily sacked after a few months with CERT and fell back on his ZU connects and was promptly hired by them. HIS job was to get some cost recovery going (Just like what CERT IS) and I think that he worked his former military connections and they got this latest ZU military teaching program going.
I know one of the sports who are working the program and, apparently, they're in a newly built facility out there. Reportedly, s/he's glad a H-E-Double hockey sticks to be out there and not surrounded by what s/he considers to be back-stabbers at the main campus.
