Can anyone give me the lowdown on either of these companies? They offer similar salaries. What are they like to work for? What problems can I expect?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks! |

For CPL, their ad at tefl.com has changed in the last few days to say that they prefer EU nationals. |

Still known as the pimps of the Middle East. Don't expect to earn anything like the money the advertise, especially on the short-term contracts. |

Why go and work for these questionable outfits? get a real job with a reasonable employer. I suggest looking for direct hire with one of the employers in the government sector. |

"Pimps of the middle east"
What a hoot! The two banditos in charge of the operation have spending habits that are legendary. Most of it squandered across the bridge in Bahrain. Hardly any of their staff are on legal visa status. The last I heard, there was one legit iqama gathering dust in Yanbu On Sea.

Thanks for the warnings! I noticed that the Language Solutions contract looked a bit unappealing.

Scotty,
I've taught military personnel in the Kingdom and found it easy but dull. However, TINS (the Naval Academy?) is reckoned to be one of worst places to work in KSA, at least according to posters on these boards. |

Dear wainwright,
A lot will depend on your qualifications: do you have an M.A.; do you have any previous Middle Eastern experience; do you have ANY overseas experience?
There are KFUPM (scot47's alma mater), the Institute of Public Administration (where I worked), Vinnell, and Raytheon - to name a few.
(the last two teach the military, but aren't too bad, I'm told.) |

I put TINS on my list becasue they have the reputation of being ready to give LONO's to teachers leaving. Many use TINS as a springboard to other jobs in KSA. |

NG cadets (the Brit NG Signals end of the base not Vinnell) are far worse than TINS. The frills and high salary help maintain your sanity. |

johnslat -- I have an MA, 5 years overseas experience (4 in Muslim countries). I hope that's enough to get me in. Thanks for the pointers, and thanks to scot47 and mistral too. I'll look into the companies you mentioned. |

Dear wainwright,
Your qualifications and experience sound darn good. You should be able to
get a really decent job in the Kingdom.
All the best.
Regards,
John |

I found the NG (Signals School) cadets to be pleasant young guys. However, it was easily the most boring post I have ever held. I left with my sanity intact. Send me a PM if you'd like to discuss this further. We may have met. |
