If a school accept you and offer you a position with them...is it standard procedure to sign a contract from abroad before you arrive in Thailand? And if I sign a contract and then for any reason cannot go there then what would happen? thanks |

I don't know about your first question, but the answer to your second question is "nothing." Contracts between schools and foreign teachers usually don't mean much especially when it comes to job responsibilities. |

The only type of school that offers a contract from abroad that is worthwhile signing, is one of the top international schools. In fact, many of those schools will only sign foreign teachers in that way. They only hire proper teachers, i.e. those who have studied 4 year (or more) education degrees in their home countries. The salaries at these schools will be at least 70, 000 baht per month and some pay more than 100, 000 per month.
If any other school wants you to sign a contract before you arrive, I would advise against it. |

I think they are trying to make sure you really come here and take the job. Too many 'runners' here who change their mind last minute and don't show up at work! |
