Hi all,
I'm a newbie, so my apologies if this topic has been covered before. I would love to hear about experiences anyone has finding work teaching in Turkey--specifically in Izmir.
For the past 4 years, I've been an editor in New York City. I'm now working on my TEFL certification and would like to start teaching by the fall. I do not have any teaching experience, though I do have experience coaching writing and reading 1-on-1.
I spent some time in Turkey in 1992 and would love to go back, preferably to Izmir (though I would happily go to Istanbul or Ankara). Are there many positions available? Based upon what you know, would I be a qualified candidate with TEFL cert? And lastly, is late summer/early fall a good time to be looking?
Any advice you can provide is much appreciated! Thanks! |
