|
|
When I left the UAE I sent a few big suitcases home using some small operation out of cargo village. I'm pretty sure they went as unaccompanied luggage on a Gulf Air flight. This was a reasonably priced way of getting things back to the US that was fast, too. So does it work the other way? As we make plans to move back can I send several suitcases as unaccompanied luggage? Has anyone tries this? Perhaps someone can comment on the cost compared to sending a crate. |

I was thinking about sending stuff via boat in July so it arrives some time in September when I'm settled in. Any recommendations of shipping companies on the US west coast? |

We should compare notes, Mandalay. I'll be sending stuff from the west coast, too. |

I'll start doing more research on this in June and will post whatever I find out here. |

Depending on your employer, another option is air freight. I used to go directly to the airline (usually used BA from DCA) and some employers have a staff member in HR that can take care of the pickup. With HCT, the shipping was in my hotel room when I arrived. In Kuwait, I did it air freight through a shipping company and paid for portal to portal and again it was delivered to my flat on the campus.
