Hi everyone,
I am curious about what all of you have done in terms of flights to your country of choice. I am taking my CTEFL course in Istanbul, then hopefully going to working in Syria. Buying a roundtrip ticket seems much cheaper than two one-ways, but I don't know anything about dates of when I could come back, and one can't buy return tickets for over a year in advance.
Anyone have some advice?
Much thanks.

Check and see if they require a round trip ticket. IN some countries, you don't need one, so you can just buy a one way ticket.
Or just buy a return ticket and change the date, it usually is only about 100 or 200 USd to change the date.

I actually got some good advice simply by calling a few travel agencies and explaining my situation (off to Prague for I didn't know how long; not sure if I would be returning to the US or moving on to another country--standard pre-TEFL course situation). But then, that was back when I was 23 or so and eligible for all of those youth and student discounts.

I got my ticket through STA - they do the ISIC card and have the student discounts which was good for me. I ended up getting an open ticket which is valid for one year. You pick a departure date and then you can pick your arrival date any time after that -- one year max. If you want to make a change to your arrival date then it only costs abotu $50 which is much cheaper than many airlines charge.
