Hi everyone, my husband (G) and I were in Q8 for a few months a few years ago (not teaching). G plays guitar and was involved in a couple of bands while we were there. We are thinking of returning to Q8 (this time as teachers) but have heard the music scene has changed a lot.

Understand that there are no clubs etc but private functions and parties were pretty popular.

Is there any live music around?
It it illegal?

Any information along these lines would be great.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply 15yearsinQ8, that's great news. Very Happy

Don't expect a full calendar of events, it'll just be nice if he can still do the odd gig. Last time there he mainly did parties and get togethers. Biggest gigs were the British Ladies Society ball at the Kuwait Hilton and a party at the American Embassy. Cool

The folk music scene has last some of its perennials, and I've heard it's inactive after more than twenty years of plodding along. Loiter around a music shop on a weekend day and see who shows up to buy strings or what have you--chances are you'll meet a fellow strummer.

Also, ask around about a drummer named Alex, try to get in touch with him--he's usually dialed into various scenes.
