A warning to all those hopeful ESL job hunters who come across a recruiting advertisement by 'Fidelity International House' in Vienna. Their advertisment is placed on many reputable recruiting websites such as ESLemployment and Transitions Abroad. They hire electronically, no phone interviews or direct contact and do not provide phone contact details in their ad. If you receive an e-mail that begins like this.....be warned, it is a scam! Surprisingly, when I sent a reply e-mail stating that I would not take matters any further without speaking directly to the "Principal", I received no further communications from them.
Dear successful candidate,
After the interview with the principal,he has finally approved your request to work with us,congratulations!!!!You are already one of us.Out of ninety seven people that responded to this position, you are among the 6 lucky people that are chosen.
Attached to this email is the Employment contract, you are kindly
requested to study it carefully,if you agree to the terms and conditions of the contract, then print it out, fill in your name(s) at the appropriate
spaces provided, sign and return it to this email address within 4 days.
You have to sign the contract before we could put the school stamp on it and forward it to the processing authorities as a proof that you have accepted the job.
Meanwhile, you have been advised to send a refundable commitment fee of 350 Euro to enable us commence necessary arrangement for your arrival. This is indeed a commitment fee, though we may be spending much money for your arrival, the commitment fee will enable us to know the level of seriousness in you.We wouldnt like to commence the processing without getting this deposit from you.It will give us more courage to spend, our time, energy and money on your behalf.
This decision was taken due to the behaviour of some applicants who were employed to work in Austria, much money was spent to process their invitation letters, work permit, residence permit, travelling documents etc,but they never turned up,rather told their Employers that they have gotten a better paid job somewhere. |
