|
|
Hi. I live in Korea and have a very extensive silver coin collection. In all, about 70-80 pounds of silver mainly consisting of old 90% silver American coins. Mostly in the form of Walker half dollars (1000) but silver dollars and quarters as well. I have 2 complete sets of Silver American Eagle proofs graded MS-69 (1986-2008) and other sets of proof SAE's, some oddball coins like a set of world proof silver coins from the 1984 Olympics, etc... The thing is, I'm more interested in gold coins at this point and am considering selling (or trading) all my silver for gold coins. My guess is, it's one of the most extensive silver coin collections in Korea. I've lived in Asia since 1995 and have pack ratted lots of coins in my time here.
Koreans are not so much into silver, gold is common--not so silver. So I'm thinking Japan might be the place to sell them. I've been to Fukuoka many times, but that's the only part of Japan I know. Can someone give me some tips about selling silver coins in Japan? Are Japanese like Koreans and not so much into silver and would it be very easy to sell them? Thanks. |

I don't think it's so much the fact that Japanese are not into silver. They are just not into foreign coins (that I know of). Same seems to hold for stamps and baseball cards.
Perhaps some foreigner...? |

In Tokyo, there is at least one shop that deals with foreign coins. I don't have the name or address, but it is located on Yasukune-dori, near the shrine and Buddokan.
There is also one in the Ameyoko shopping area in Ueno.
Perhaps other forum members might have better info. |

There are a couple of shops that deal with coins (no idea if foreign or not - not my thing, so never peeked inside) in Nakano Broadway.
Next time I'm there I'll perhaps take a look. |
