Hello, I am currently working at a school here in Taiwan where I signed a one-year contract. I have a multiple-entry ARC. I am seriously considering breaking my contract a couple of months early in order to go home and take an exam I need to apply to grad school (they don't offer it in Taiwan or anywhere close... ), and I was wondering what happens in this situation. Must I leave the country immediately if I am no longer employed with the company that provided my work permit? I would like to take some time (not too long, but at least a week) to travel within Taiwan before I leave. Does anyone know the rules on this? Do I at least get a grace period before I must leave if I break contract?
Any knowledge/notions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks! |

I believe you have 7 days to exit the country, maybe as much as 15...and then there is a cash penalty for every day you stay over. It also depends on how fast your school processes the paperwork upon you quitting. |
