Hi,

Has anyone worked for media Kids recently? I have been offered a four month contract with them in the Lopburi Province. I have never been to Thailand so I don`t have a clue. I would be very interested in hearing about any experiences and opinions. Also, the classes are quite large which worries me as I am used to teaching small classes of Korean students! How well (or badly!) behaved are Thai children generally?

Thanks alot!

Dawn

Depends who you asked.

I worked in Lopburi for 2 weeks and had a pretty good experience there.

MK isn't the best or worst recruiting agency in Thailand.

I mean, they aren't great, Lynette lies through her teeth but they aren't the worse agency in Thailand either.

Just realize that they won't really do much for you. They'll place you in a school (you have to find your own way there and pay for all of your own expenses), charge the school a lot of money and give you a small percentage each month, i.e. your salary.

They usually pay about 30-34,000 baht a month to Western Teachers and half of that to teachers from the Phillipines which is a decent salary but they make quite a profit as well.

Anyway, the school in Lopburi is pretty cool and it's a nice area to be in so I'd say go for it because it's only 4 months and MK isn't always honest about everything but at least they will pay you each month on time....just be aware they will look for ways to shave a bit off your salary each month and you'll probably have to make one or two trips to Laos for Visa purposes.

I'd say just do it for 4 months and if you like it you can stay longer but if you don't like it you can bail or not re-new.
