My wife and I are considering teaching and obtaining our CELTA certificate in Iran. But I've been unable to find any information about teaching in Iran outside of the information the CELTA school in Iran has provided me. If anyone can tell me anything about any aspect of teaching in Iran--from the job market, to health insurance, to being an American in Iran, to any possible social restrictions my wife might face--it would be greatly appreciated. |

I love the idea of someday living and working in Iran. Besides the government, I hear that the country and people are super cool.
But being a representative of "the Great Satan" pretty much nulifies any chance that I would have in procuring an Iranian work visa. The Iranian embassy would gladly welcome my application and visa fee and would also gladly stamp a huge REJECTION in big red letters on the app.
I think unless one is Iranian-American with current family ties to Persia, there is about a zero percent chance of being able to work in Iran.
