That is more of a rhetorical question,I know it has,but why ? A buddy who had been here in Beijing for over 10 years left his 16 K (with lots of perks) a month job to go to Singapore, but wanted to come back this coming September. He applied and waited, and applied for some more jobs...in the end he got a "23,500 "K a month job in SHANGHAI. His original job now requires a B.Ed or PGCE.

The "job" I'm presently doing has close to FIFTY-PERCENT non-native English speakers.

Here's a question: Would Korea,Japan,Thailand... have a ESL school with that high of a percentage ?

I'm trying to rustle up enough cash to head home-For me, I know Beijing wanks ! (Brits, can I say it that way ?)
Looked through the site "The Beijinger",and it's the same advertisements time and again-Tutoring one on one,and you'd be lucky to clear 4-6 K a month.I surrendered to one of these schools, and they put me off (cancellations etc) for about 4-6 weeks;I ended up giving up on that.

Here's another question: Has learning Mandarin overtaken teaching ESL/EFL here in Beijing ?
Cheers,
WW

Regarding the wanking, I've not heard it used that way but see no reason why it can't be. You have introduced a new form of insult into our language, well done.

"Beijing is wank" would be more grammatically correct.

WW you have been around a long time. You have paid your dues. I think you can wank any way you wish to wank.

Go home good buddy. You have earned and need the break.

But, China is in your blood, you will be back, count on it.

Best wishes to you my friend.
