|
|
Hi - I need to send a 25kg parcel within Poland. Doesn't have to be fast, just cheap and reliable. With DHL it'll cost 45zl. But I don't know how much it'll cost with Poczta Polska because I'm struggling to navigate their website in Polish. Does anyone know?
Many thanks |

Why not go down to your local posta and ask? It's probably easier than navigating the website.
In the case that your spoken Polish isn't strong enough, I'd write out in advance 25ks, and the names of the towns you want to send from/to. That should be easy enough for a postal employee to understand, I think. |

Poczta Polska quotes packages between 20kg to 30kg as 42zl, but only up to a certain dimension; length, width and height must be no more than 3m in total, and no one side can be more than 1.5m (if that makes any sense.)
Couriers Ive found to be hit and miss, and considering the frequency with which I buy things from Allegro.pl, I'd go Poczta Polska every time. Their service might be slower, their checkout women might be grumpy idiots and the queues can take forever, but if they can't deliver at least they leave a note and you can pick it up somewhere local, unlike couriers who won't even call you if you're not it, don't leave notes and have their pick-up location 20km away from your city. |

Excellent, thanks very much for the advice. I think I'll go with Poczta Polska. My parcel is just about within those dimensions, and it'll probably be easier to send that way. |

Reliable? Poczta Polska?! Nine days ago my bank sent me a new bank card (via registered priority mail). The HQ of my bank is 500 metres from my apartment. My card still hasn't arrived!
I usually lose (i.e. have stolen by Polish postal workers) between four and seven parcels a year. |

Ive read your aticles regularly, Harry, and know about your Poczta woes, but I've never experienced any of those troubles with them. I have, however, paid 200zl to a Polish courier to same-day-deliver a car part I needed, which arrived 9 days later. Ive never had any reliabilty from private couriers. |

Next time you need any car parts, go to your nearest Intercars distributor. They have by far the largest range of stock of any parts company in Poland and your chances of getting the part by noon the next day are 99.97%. |

Yeah, I know them, but they, like pretty much any motor factor these days, dont stock parts for a 1978-1986 Audi. |

There's the homework for my students' next lessons "I want you to find out all the parts which you stock for a 1978-1986 Audi and then write down the English names for those parts".
Nice one Rich |

Christ, if you really want to numb their minds I can scan you the supplement from Practical Classics; 'Know Your Nuts.' It lists every bloody nut, bolt and screw you could possibly need. Engineers love it. |

In the end I sent my parcel by DHL. It cost only a few more zl than Poczta Polska, arrived quickly and in one piece. |

Do you mean slipping the guard 20zl at the station, telling him that your friend will pick up the "special box" from him a few cities down the line? |
