Does anyone know any good sites for getting proofreading work?I've done lots in the past and it's a useful source of income during the long Summer break. |

i have been looking for the same thing but don't know where to start looking.
I want to decrease hours at my current school and supplement it with something like this. I have a few writing classes I am currently teaching and really don't mind proofreading my students' work. |

In my experience, proofreading doesn't pay so well. I proofread a few journal articles for a Linguistics prof in Poznan, and even charging him the going rate I made about 10 zl an hour. Why? Because in spite of his good English, I had to more or less rewrite the text to make it fit to print. If the text has to not only be error-free but actually sound good, it takes a while. I have no idea where to look for proofreading gigs, maybe ang.pl |

Proofreading can pay very well indeed. The problem is that to get the good jobs you have to have experience working in the good jobs. Bit of a Catch-22 really. |

I've asked about this too and have to agree with Harry. It seems to be a 'word of mouth' thing, you need experience to get the work. Catch 22 indeed. |
