So far I've gotten a lot of wind and one concrete offer to start in late August. Am I being too impatient or do I just need to keep looking? |

Where are you applying? What sorts of jobs are you applying for? There are jobs that will hire you instantly and put you on a plane the next day, but generally it can take a couple of months or more. (And if you get one of those "we're desperate... can you be here tomorrow?" jobs, ask yourself why they are so desperate!)

Summer is a dead season for teachers. One or two privates, one intensive if you are lucky. Just enough for food and rent but that's it. It's late September when all the big fish comes! |

It's the begining of September in China for schools and universities. Some instutites put on extra staff for July but only for the month.
I went for my new job a month ago to start late August. |

Language schools might offer intensive courses, so you might be able to find work. BUt where are you looking and for what type of job? |
