Hi.
I've had 6 years in the Gulf, and overall I enjoy working here. And, I'm pretty sure I will be working at KU Allied Health soon, as an English Instructor. What would be my on-campus hours each day? How many hours of classes will I teach?
Are the expectations of the admin people clear and transparent?
Is it possible for a democratic mind set to work with the admin and / or
visa versa?
Thanks. H. |

Well... that expectation may be too high. After all, it is Kuwait and KU and the Gulf. The Kuwait bureaucracy is a major pain in the ... neck. (that's an understatement) Administration at KU is slow and cumbersome, but normally predictable and not overly vindictive. (that said, new people always bring new factors into play) There are some nice people in the department and the students are more serious than many Gulf students.
As to direct departmental management, there have been some personality clashes over the years - just as happens everywhere - but things have been quiet from there for the last few years. (and they have never had the total meltdowns that the Faculty of Medicine had for many years running...)
We do have a poster here who can answer your more specific questions. Hopefully she will be passing through.

This is a thread from last year.
If you have questions about Oman, I suggest that you put them on the Oman board, not the Kuwait board.
