Hi, my husband and I are looking for jobs in the UAE and we have been approached by the the Abu Dhabi Grammar School. I was wondering if anyone has worked for them and could tell me if this is a good school to work at and whether the pay is good.

I did see on their website that housing is included in the salary and airfare covered, but I have no idea of the salary or the school's reputation.

My husband is a certified teacher with a BA and 6 yrs. experience, he would ideally teach elementary grade children.

My situation is a bit different and I would like some advice too please! I have a Master's degree in International Exchange Management from SIT and have mostly worked in higher education (cross cultural training, assessment, research, and admissions)- does anyone know of an international org. that is looking for help in this capacity?

Thank you,
Southern girl

My wife and I sent our 3 children to the school when we were teaching in Abu Dhabi.

Although the Canadian teachers there were wonderful, they were handicapped by a terrible group of Arab administrators. Everything started late every year and the general feeling amongst parents was chaos. Again, the Canadians were caring teachers, but my children had a bad experience.

You can expect lots of promises from the administrators, but they will frustrate you at every expectation.

Good luck.

We sent our 10-year-old half-white/half Chinese son there. I agree with the previous writer: it was a bad experience for him. For one thing, the English level of the other students is appalling, which didn't help his own English. He was also bullied a lot about his American naitonality and Chinese looks.
