Hello all -
I was accepted by a school for a teaching position in Shijiazhuang which was supposed to begin mid-July. At the last minute the police refused to provide me with a letter of recommendation. I have since applied and been accepted for a position in Shanghai, but am waiting for the police clearance to go through.
I have a clean criminal record, no involvement with Tibet or other issues, and no other smudges on my record. I have been informed that the issue is Olympic-linked and some foreign nationals are being asked to leave and not being accepted back into the country. Has anyone else encountered anything like this? Just trying to figure out if I should start shooting out the resumes to Thailand...

Your home country police, or are you in China, and you are referring to the Chinese police?
I am ignorant but curious, because I have never been asked for a police report. I don't think New York State would give one.
Who wants this police report? |

| 'letters of recommendation' are obtained from previous employers. police don't hand out recommendations. |
