Good question, not sure about breakdown although given the insurance companies reluctance to insure a british car, breakdown cover may follow the same thinking. Best bet would be to give them a call.

Considering a British-registered car is unlikely to have insurance cover on the continent for more than three weeks in a year (check your documents!), and that it's impossible to register a RHD car in Polska unless it's a classic, I doubt any auto-kasco company will touch you with a barge pole in either imperial or metric lengths. How can they sell you a year's polisy if the car can only legally be here for three weeks?

Your best bet would simply to take a copy of the polish Yellow Pages with you and call for a local pick-up truck as and when you get problems.

And BTW, really, check your insurance. A friend recently got shafted when he crashed his camper in Austria, when his insurance company checked with P&O when he had left Blighty. He'd been gone a month, which invalidated his insurance, leaving him penniless in Oestereich and facing rather lengthy court fees to boot.

Court fees for what? Any car insurance policy sold anywhere in the EU is required to cover that car (as in provide the legal minimum required insurance) in all EU member states for the entire life of the policy.

Car cover in Britian can only cover cars in mainland europe for a maximum of 90 days (that's if you search hard enough) more commonly for 30 or 60 days. Depending on the policy you have - check the small print - the cover in mainland europe ranges from absolute basic 3rd party to whatever your mainland insurance is.

Once you're outside of the time limit or have spent too long (i.e. if you have 90 days, you cannot have 90 consequtive days, there must be a few days when the car returns to Britian) the insurance cover for mainland europe and probably the UK becomes invalidated.

Thus, if you exceed the policy cover for mainland europe and you have a prang you're stuffed.
