|
|
Hi,
I'm wondering how easy or difficult it is finding work teaching ESL outside of Buenos Aires. I've been in BA since the beginning of the year, and am looking for a change of scenery at the end of July until the end of the year.
I'd like to move somewhere a bit slower, with much easier access to nature. Quite frankly BA is sometimes too much for me, and just feels too similar to home (NYC). I'd really like to be in the middle of nowhere, but I know there's no jobs in nowhere! heh.
I was just wondering what other people have experienced in the other major cities (or non-cities) of Argentina, and if anyone has any advice for choosing the best one. Sadly, I haven't had any time to travel around the country since I've been here, and won't have the time until the end of July. So, I'd really appreciate some experiences of other cities.
Thanks so much.

If you consider Crdoba: it's a nice place but there is almost no work between December and February and it takes a while to get a foot in the door, so saving a little something beforehand is not a bad idea.
Try to go for private students, the institutes here (with few exceptions) are pretty low quality and basically taking the piss (based on my own and some Argentine teachers' experience).
Building up a network is the way to go here; without contacts you don't really get anywhere. If you stay patient you might end up living quite comfortably.
As I said, it's a nice place, and the weather has been great throughout the whole winter. |
