I am interested in traveling to Venezuela (or maybe Colombia) this fall to live, travel, and teach English.
I have a BA and I am working on a certification now.

1.)What is the cost of living like for a single person in a secondary city such as Valencia or Puerto La Cruz?
For a decent 1BR apartment, groceries, utilities, transport, etc.

Most of the apartments I see advertiesed through the internet are 2500 - 3000 BsF ($1200-1400 USD) per month.
Thats much more than the average Venezuelan makes per month, so where does everyone else live?

2.) What kind of demand/opportunity is there for English teachers in VE?
How does it compare to Colombia. I would much prefer to teach private classes as opposed to a language school.
My research in Colombia suggests the range of $15 - 25 USD per hr for private lessons. Is this correct and comparable to Venezuela?

Thanks,

Dan

VENUSA is supposed to be a good place to work for.

AS far as I know, in general, the average English teacher in Latin America mmakes 500 to 1000 a month, I'm sure the stuff that you find online is more expensive that they stuff you'll find there, if you're willing to walk aroudn and look for flats. Living outside tourist areas is cheaper as well.
