Must be having a bad hair day because I feel like a rant, so here goes. In EFL we (almost) all have to end up dealing with sweet creatures from what is laughably called the "Human Resources" department of some company. Human Resources - I just slapped myself to stop the urge to slide into PC diatribe- what a misnomer.
What is it all about? Sad people who studied psychology on the basic precept that if you can understand how people tick you can adjust the clock to suit your own timetable. Usually the character traits we would least like to see in a workmate are most evident in the very people who are employed to employ others, who, with their concomitant absence of interpersonal skills, tend to use the age-old method of "like me/ not like me" when taking on staff, or worse "Can I bully this one?", resulting in a dreadful working environment.
Not being entirely daft, these ne'erdowells know full well that if they make life too miserable for the clucks they've deemed worthy of slavery they might find themselves on the recieving end of the misery they deal out, and so they need an external source of pleasure. Enter EFL.
What a Godsend to those of a sadistic persuasion - an external source of fun who can be mercilessly exploited without any real risk of comeback. The customer is always right. Anyone ever worked in a shop? The customer quite often isn't worth the price of what they are buying.
There are many tiresome things about teaching EFL, most of which can be borne with a fair element of good humour, but having to deal with genetic sludge isn't one of them.
Any suggestions about what to do with HR folk - legal, illegal, I don't care - will be gratefully recieved to brighten my weekend.
Thanks all...pip,pip. |

Oh dear, sounds like you've had a hard week!
I have to deal with HR a lot of the time. I've only had one problem and that was a couple of years ago. I had some courses scheduled at a company and the HR woman kept changing them around at the last minute, even though this technically breached the contract. Generally I tolerated it, even though it meant a last minute hassle trying to reorganise other clients to fit around this one. Eventually it did get the better of me and I laid into the HRer with the 'I don't actually work for you so you can't dictate terms to me like you do to your subordinates' speech. I think she was pretty shocked to see the usually smiley, compliant, client-orientated me suddenly change into a ranting hulk. Long story short, since then she hasn't made any week changes!
So my advice - go Hyde on them! |

Thanks Mike, but I was hoping for something more along the lines of surgically removing their eyeballs as they sleep and leaving them lying on their ( hind) cheeks!!!! |

Sneak into his/her PC, copy all the salary info, and group mail anonymously it to all the company's employees. |
