I hope to bring my family to the KSA as I have secured a position near the cities named in the subject line. My wife would like to begin a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at an accredited college or university. I'd very much appreciate it if any member familiar with the Eastern Provinces could advise us in this regard.

A non-Saudi will find it VERY DIFFICULT to get a place. |

Have you checked out the possibilities in Bahrain? You should post on the Bahrain board to see if there is a nursing program there that she could attend. I don't think there is one --in English, for non-Saudis--in the Eastern Province. |

Thank you both for your suggestions. I came across this college across the Causeway. Could someone actually commute on a daily basis to do a nursing degree here? http://www.chs.edu.bh/viewFaculty.aspx?Div=NRS
Scot's comments on maids and nursing were true, I'm sure. Another person PM-ed me and suggested I could start looking at KFMMC.

Your wife will definitely like Bahrain better than KSA (close-knit Indian community, Indian Women's Club, greater freedom, etc.,). I'd suggest you do it the other way around, ie., live in Bahrain and you could do the daily commute instead. This, however, would largely depend on your employer, who'd require to give you a multiple-entry visa.
It would also depend on the Labour Market Regulatory Authority in Bahrain (LMRA), which has become very strict in recent days. They no longer renew visit visas for long.
Good luck, anyway. |

It is certainly possible, in theory, for you to live in the Khobar area and commute to Bahrain. Whether or not it is practical is another question. Remember that your wife will not be able to drive in KSA, and thus you would have to drive her across the causeway to classes. It would be quite difficult to do that if you have to be at work every day. If her classes were at night, you might be able to pull it off, but it would be quite a strain on you to drive her over and wait to take her back.
I do know people who live in Bahrain and commute to KSA. Seems like a better solution to me. |

For a female to commute from KSA to Bahrain is not possible unless she has a car and driver. The first bus leaves Khobar at 08.30 and arrival time is uncertain. Not practical. |

Raju, my wife and your wife are in the situation. They both wish to complete a BSN (or BSc)...possibly at CHS in Bahrain. But is this college accredited by American or Canadian RN bodies, or is it trying to get accredited?
Is it possible to get the application for admission online? The website seems to imply we need to visit the college to pick up the application. This is not practical until we move there in August. |
