Hi Gang-
I've been offered a position at NUCB. I've asked several of my Japanese university students here in America about Nagoya, and they tell us its very big, has a lot of good access, would be a good place to spend a year or two. But none can tell us much about NUCB itself. Any thoughts or information? Is it part of Nagoya University, or just a near-name rip-off? Are there as many shams in the universities as there seem to be in the Language Schools? Thanks! |

haven't read good things.
I think it is on Debito's blacklist. |

Crab, a poster here, used to work there. Maybe he can offer some info.
Crab - what happened with my application that I passed on to you to teach at this school?
Thanks! |

Any recent information on this school, as I see they are hiring again and there were a couple of adverts on the Chronicle this past few months?
The info on Debito's site is quite dated - 1998 to 2001/2002.
Have things changed in the last couple of years with NUCB?
Anyone here currently at NUCB? If so, could you shed some light on the teaching experience there and what the admin or management is like?
Thanks for any info. |

Well, I'm no expert, but I'm sure many of the posters here will tell that conditions in general at J. Unis hasn't improved much since 1998. In fact the entire English education industry has been on a major downslide at least since I've been here (5 years).
I can tell you that Nagoya is a fairly decent city to live in. There are a lot of Unis here, so if things didn't work out at NUCB you might be able to find something else. |
