Hello everyone, a quick question: is there a bigger ex-pat and language teaching scene in Rome or in Milan? I am finding it very difficult to get a good picture from over here in Spain so any help would be much appreciated |

Hi Moore - nice to see you on the Italy forum!
I suspect that most of the info you'll get is going to be anecdotal, so mine is:
- lots of people passing through Rome, and not necessarily staying for more than a year or so
- quite difficult to get teachers in Milan to sign for short-term contracts: most of them have plenty of work
- lots of dormitory towns around Milan that need language teachers
I'd say that the scene is bigger (but more spaced out) in hard-working Milan. It's probably more fun in Rome, but with a lot more transient teachers.
Why? Are you interested in coming to Italy? |

Thank you very much for the reply TeacherInRome, thought Milan would be the biggest scene, but was not 100% certain.
I'm not thinking about leaving my beloved Madrid, it's just too nice here! In fact, the reason I ask is that we are 90% sure we are going to set up our next website there in August, along with Berlin, but there's nothing like a bit of real local knowledge before we spend a shed-load of our hard-earned cash on advertising there.
Thanks again for replying |

What's your website? I know of a couple already where teachers advertise themselves, and we used them when we looked for teachers in Milan.
Let me know if you need any help - I'm no longer in Rome but close to Ancona. |
