I have got an offer in Seeb Vocational Training Institute as English teacher.

Help me if you have any idea about it.

Couldn't help but notice the lack of responses.
I'm not in Oman, currently.
However, just a word of caution: Seeb is quite a distance away from the city. The highway is a busy one too as it connects the city to the airport. If you plan to live in Muscat, factor in travelling costs.
This is your first post. I'd be careful about spelling mistakes in the very title of my first thread, if I were you. "Vocactional" doesn't read "rite".
You sound like you're Indian, my friend. Best of luck. You'll need it.

Actually Lall... Seeb isn't that far out in relative terms, but it would make little sense to try to live in Muscat where places are hard to find and overpriced. Seeb area would be more affordable. Muscat has actually now grown out to that area.

Sorry, but I know nothing about the institute itself.

If Preet is a married male (as the name implies, at least the male part) with school-going children, living in Muscat= Better sense. Also, it means more opportunities for his wife in finding employment. It would be illegal, if she comes in on a spouse's visa.
Illegal is illegal. I'm always amazed by the number of posts indicating ways of working illegally or cohabiting (The latter being both insulting to the sensitivities of the GCC nationals besides being illegal). It's alike Koreans posting on a board detailing ways and means of rearing domestic dogs in a residential neighbourhood, with a view of slaughtering them for breakfast, the RSPCA be damned.

So... Lall... how did you get all that personal information from this small bit? I'm not sure how you got from that to his living with a woman illegally. (is there a subcontinental shorthand that the rest of us don't know? Laughing) I suspect that this place may be so small that it is only bachelor contracts.

I don't know for sure, but there may very well be an Indian school out in that area. He would need to check on that.

Hey VS,
I'm not sure how you got that I thought that he planned to live with a woman illegally. Smile
I meant to tell him that employment for his spouse (if he has one) on his visa would be illegal employment.
Most newcomers don't know that or are made to believe that it is condoned. Most prospective employers of spouses (small-time businesses) will not disclose it, either. The reason for my rant is the many voices that say that it is okay to seek such employment, okay to cohabit and so on.

Lall,

You are rude and condescending for no reason--not just on this thread, but often and on many threads. The point of this board is supposed to be for teachers to help each other, but you only seem to want to spend time insulting and pontificating. Is your real life so empty that you have to take on the role of a second-rate bully in cyber space? What secrets and imperfections are you hiding that you are so quick to attack and demean others?

Seeb is not some village in the middle of nowhere! There is nothing that Muscat has that we dont - we have an Indian school, The Sultans school, a Lulu, City Centre is just 5-10min down the road, a cheap souq, the fish market..... What more do you need? Laughing Rents are way cheaper in Seeb, its nice and quiet on the weekends and we make the best meshkak! Cool

As for the centre - it's newly opened so I really couldnt comment on what working there would be like. Good luck

And lall, you seem a little tense, would you like the number of my Dr? He has no problem prescribing Valium and its legal and wont offend anyones sensibilities Rolling Eyes

Well Preet, since both Desertrat and VS have advocated Seeb and given the fact that I once lived in Salalah (and therefore don't know much about Muscat and Seeb), I guess it would make more sense to live in Seeb, especially if it now has all that Desertrat has said it has.

Desertrat,
Coultn't resist this one:

Desertrat,

The joke's on me. Note my spelling error of "couldn't". Embarassed

Lall.

PS: "Post in haste, repent at leisure" surely is valid here. Also, I broke my own rule of letting 40 hours go by before responding to a dig.
