Hi Colombia forum!
I want to thank you guys for all the help you've been so far. I know a few people have recounted their experiences looking for work in Colombia but, as I already have work I'm looking for travel. working, living and cultural advice before I head there.
I am going to work in either Medellin or Bogota. I am 22, female and will most likely be living alone in the city. I want to go to Colombia because of it's rich culture, history and its reputation for having wonderful, friendly and laid-back people. I also know that it is ia physically beautiful country.
I have lived in Costa Rica, in San Jose, in the San Pedro Mall area. If anyone knows this area I think they will acknowledge the fact that crime there is getting worse. However, while there I shared a fairly large house with a number of other foreigners in a neighbourhood where a guard was stationed 24 hours. I am not paranoid about crime but know Colombia has a bad rap, that there is a lot of poverty within its major cities. I am also aware of the fact that, as a foreigner, I will most likely stick out and therefore be a target for petty crimes.
Any travelling advice, travelling alone through the city or living advice anyone can give me would be great! |
