I'm coming to Italy from Taiwan and have been offered two jobs...

One is offering me a job with a contractto Nazionale di lavoro and the other is offering me cash in hand.

I know the contratto Nazionale is the most sensible choice but I prefer the location of the other job as its on the mainland and not an island like the prior...

Any advice.

Hello

Personally, I wouldn't accept the cash in hand job. One doesn't want to live a life of 'What ifs..' but with the former job you would at least have more entitlements to live in Italy. One must question an organization (you haven't been specific but am assuming that it is a language school) which offers this type of non-contract. There's little security as it is in this industry but I am suspicious of the motives for this job. It's one thing working legally and doing a bit of moonlighting on the side (i.e. private students in your own time), another to be visibly working for an organization that doesn't consider it necessary to protect themselves or their staff.

The ultimate decision must be yours. Given a choice most people would probably prefer to not pay taxes but, alas, tis so. This is the time that schools will start advertising (if they are organized) and this will continue until September. Maybe it would be better to decide where you want to go and then apply for any relevant jobs that may come up. In my opinion, TEFL.com (no affiliation!!) is the best for European jobs.

Good luck.
