It's likely that my next teaching will be in Fujian province - I did some resarch on the Job Links forum, but it looks like most jobs are in Fuzhou. I'd be really interested in trying out Xiamen, and want to try the 'unadvertised' job market, that is networking with expats already there. Does anyone know of a URL for an expats guide in Xiamen and/or possible job links?
Thanks,
Steve |

Great site, thanks John. The job scene is better than I thought, I'm seriously considering this.

Does anybody who has any direct contact with public schools in Xiamen willing to employ English teachers from Singapore? I am a Singaporean Chinese - please give me their emails so I can contact them. Getting desperate here.... My lady boss is giving me a lot of problems here almost everyday - negative comments, making false stories and allegations from students even just a small little comments will find her hot my heels critising my teaching.. just finding excuse to lambast me on my poor teaching methods.... what a lot of bullshit!!! she wants me out coz she is trying to achieve a no asian english teacher in her centre. |

PM me and I can help give you names of schools that don't discriminate like this.

A great site....To jianzhou---Funny the same thing happened to a Singapore teacher here this term. He was fired when he made enemies among students..I really liked him but it was his own fault to be frank. He felt that mainland Chinese are inferior to overseas Chinese and the students picked up on this.. In fact I think he told them this outright. I do not suggest this is the case with you-just sharing here. Is there some sort of bad blood??? China vs. Singapore??? |

Hi, well infact most of the students supported me and it is only a black sheep which filed a comment, but it was the lady boss who have decided coz she has acquired a new foreign teacher that look like a white...most of my students found that I could speak chinese which i can better relate to them without needing a teaching assistant and finally I have a china chinese wife so I have never felt the overseas chinese is better than the chinese here, the boss here felt that the centre has too many FTs and has decided to offload me and started picking nitty gritty things with me. well, I do admit that there are some sporeans who really think they are more superior especially those really been trained as teachers in Spore itself.. |

j-65 I see what you mean. The real reason is they found another teacher and were looking for an excuse to let you go. That is sneaky. If it is any consolation the chap I mentioned did get several offers and settled for one at a University,,, |
