According to regs posted online, anyone wanting a visa to go to Malaysia to work must present a round-trip flight itinerary. However, the Malaysian consulate in LA has told me that I can get one with a one-way ticket, and still be admitted into the country at the discretion of the immigration officer at KL intl airport.

The Malaysian uni has promised to reimburse the cost of my flight there, but still, buying a round-trip ticket would be so expensive.

Does anyone have any knowledge/advice on this matter? Thanks.

I hope that this isn't too late, but when I went in the country I had a one-way ticket with an onward ticket to Singapore.
