I had a job interview with alghad and they are offering a eleven and one half month contract. The one month bonus was still mentioned.

By not signing for the full year would I miss out on something besides the missing 2 weeks pay

Mmmm...perhaps the paid time off? Technically, you wouldn't be entitled to take any time off until the completion of the first year of the contract, but that generally doesn't apply to teachers who tend to have the scheduled breaks throughout the year. Unless, of course, you had to work even when classes weren't in session.

I would be very very careful with this. What about the return flight home every year? Is health insurance coverage for 12 months? Will you get to keep your housing for 12 months? The 11 1/2 month contract would only be offered if it was to MAG's benefit, believe me. I wouldn't trust MAG as far as I could throw the whole program.

This is probably an effort by MAG administrators to skirt some labor law on the books about employee compensation on a 1 year contract. I'd avoid this offer like the plague. MAG is pretty shady overall and their promises are not worth the paper its printed on.

Why would any company/organization/program offer an 11.5 months Contract? That in itself ought to be a warning sign! Don't sign with this program. I can't even imagine why anyone would want to given the number of postings indicating what a disaster it is!!
