|
|
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where outside of BA would be a good place to pick up a few months' work (to begin with, anyway) if one were to arrive there in the second half of July or, at the latest, the beginning of August. I've been put off until now by the (lack of) working visa situation, but I'm still quite interested in spending a few months in Argentina, and if I don't stay long-term the visa is less of an issue.
However, I've had my fill of large cities for a while, so even Buenos Aires, which is a great large city, doesn't much appeal. Other factors involved would be cost of living, particularly in renting a private room of some kind, and how late in the season the work would be likely to last.
I was thinking about Mendoza but I wonder if it gets too many tourists and is too much a stop on the gringo trail to be a good destination in terms of looking for work.
Any suggestions re other cities (and schools worth trying in them) would be greatly appreciated. |

I think BA/ Cordoba/ Mendoza are very much the top spots for teachers and obviously most people who want to get into a small town go to Patagonia, but it is surprisingly expensive because of the tourists.
I have never been north, but I have heard that is very cheap for Argentina and is way off the tourist trail. Jujuy or Salta, I have heard, you can earn well for the cost of living. I've no idea what schools are there but you'll likely be the only foreigner for a good distance--certainly the only one looking to teach--and I doubt would have any trouble finding work.
Again, I have never been, this comes from the woman who taught my TEFL course, which I did here in BA. |
