For those of you desparately seeking a job in Europe, like myself, beware of this organization on the web called Global-Teachers.org. They have fake job postings, they have fake contact numbers, teacher contact forms, fake testimonials, and they promise to respond to any of you inquiries, etc. Additionally, they claim that they can place you in a teaching position in Europe, but need a split fee of 100 Euros for the search and 200 Euros upon the signing of a contract. Once they receive your initial payment, they cut off all contact with you and their teacher contact forms and phone numbers can be discovered as fakes. Don't be taken advantage of (like I was).

In the meantime, if anybody has some real information about teaching jobs in Germany, please respond to this message. Thanks.

European jobs are not typically found from abroad. Most reputable employers aren't interested in candidates who may well not show up, or who may/may not prove to be professional, responsible, and reliable when they do.

You really have to be here to get a hearing, in almost all cases. The exceptions are for teachers with specialist, high-level qualifications or for the occasional (rare) school in some very remote location which has to attract candidates into the area.

Hi Ms. Morrison,

My orginal dream was to earn a TESOL certificate and work in Italy. Because I am American, knew that it would be difficult to find legal work in Italy (and Germany too for that matter). It was a hard decision, but I finally relized that working in Italy legally (at least for non-Europeans like myself) was pretty much impossible and decided to look for work outside of Italy. It turns out that it is easier for non-Europeans/Europeans to find legal work in Eastern Europe. I decided to look for work in Eastern Europe and hopefully during my vactions/holidays/end of contract period I could spend some time in Italy. I did find work in Eastern Europe, but it was with a bad company. I wasn't able to go to Italy, because I quit my job in Eastern Europe after 3 months. However, you may have better luck than I did, and find a nice company in Eastern Europe to work for. As you know, it is cheap to travel within the EU, so during your time off you can always travel to Germany with little cost.

Lots of myths about Central/Eastern Europe and Europe in general among North American newbies, unfortunately. Surprised
