Is teaching in Morocco really as horrible as the testimonials I have read online. Most of them cite absolute difficulty in getting paychecks and dealing with dodgy disorganized administrators. This country is one of my favorite countries to visit and since i have recently graduated from university I had my hopes on going there but now...I am little...uneasy...

and there are those that aren't.

Do your research before applying and find out which is which. The ALCs & British COuncil are run fairly well, some of the others are not.

There's no mention on this site about "difficulty in getting paychecks and dealing with dodgy disorganized administrators". I can't comment if this goes on in Morocco, but it never happened to me.
There is, however, plenty on here to suggest the lifestyle in Morocco might not suit everyone. I'm more diplomatic than I used to be, so I'd say it would be fair to say that living in Morocco means relying on one's own resources.
Quite a few prolific posters on here were fired by their employers too, and what with the British Council allegedly winding up its operations there, it might pay to check out other options.

I've only ever read about a visiting EFL teacher having trouble getting paid at one place here--- the Khalil Gibran School --- and that was years ago. Dave's site had some postings about that place up for quite a while before he switched to this form of discussing jobs.

It goes without saying, though, omsup, that you need to make sure the place you are going to work for is reputable: agreement in writing, work permit from the Ministry of Labor, pay with printed legal payslip, taxes taken out, medical coverage, and of course a decent wage.

PS: I'm wondering where Hod heard that the BC was pulling out of Morocco. I thought they were doing pretty well and even expanding.
