Hello,
I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and roughly two years of teaching experience in the United States. I also have a teaching certificate for Elementary. I am wondering what the best way to get into the job market is. I applied with Teachaway.inc and am wondering if sites such as this one are the way to go. If so, they are having interviews in Los Angeles on March 12-13, should I buy a ticket to go to this interview? Is this a waste of time/money? Any advice would be great!
Thank you!

With your background, I would consider international schools first, perhaps military base schools, too, and the JET program (even though there you be an ALT and not in charge of the class). To maximize job possibilities, throw in conversation schools (eikaiwas). It all depends on what you want to do here.
"Should you" buy a ticket to attend an interview? I am not in the habit of giving such "should you" advice, but I'll say this: if you don't go, you'll never know what the response is. How serious are you about that job (or about knowing what it's about)? Are there a lot of chances near you to get interviewed withOUT you going there?
For international jobs, look at job fairs.
Search Associates, ISS (International School Services) and CIS (Council of International Schools).
Most international schools' academic calendar starts in the fall, unlike other places here (April). |
