Comparing Taiwan with Fujian

Hi folks,

This is my first post on this forum, I've been hanging out on the China board for awhile. Hope you won't hold that against me Smile

I'm considering my text teaching gig for Sept '04. Currently I finish in Shanghai in June, then it's travel or summer camps. After that, I want to head to a warmer climate, and also accumulate savings for a TESOL Masters I want to do around 2005. I've got 2+ years teaching experience (will soon be 3 years), and a CELTA.

I've spent time in Fujian province on the mainland and was particularly impressed with that place. From what I hear, they speak a similar dialect to Taiwanese. Xiamen is an ideal city in that province, and I'd love to teach there.

Financially, Taiwan is more promising and I could save more for my Masters there. However, the posts I read say that it's mainly teaching kids in Taiwan. I'd prefer to teach adults and university students.

So the question is, could a post in Taiwan work out with my experience and goals, or would I be better off trying Xiamen?

Cheers,
Steve

Come on over you will have no problem finding work or saving the money you need. If you teach kids you can make a lot more in a much shorter time.
