What happens to my U.S. cell phone once I'm in Taiwan?

Should I bring it with me or is it a piece of junk?

Not usable.

Quad band phones are the standard for travelers but you don't have one as would not ask this question.

It's junk and TW phones are useless in the States too.

Hi,

If your phone is Sprint, it probably will not work here. However, if you can pop a SIM card in, it may. Best bet is to go to your phone service provider and ask them. They can "unlock" your phone for you, so once you are here, you can simply purchase a prepaid SIM card and use the same phone.

If you still have questions you can email me at: julie (at) asianconsultants. com. I help teachers get phones all the time.

Best wishes!

Julie

Just wait till you get to Taiwan and buy a phone there. They are super cheap and you can find models that arent in North America. They also have features that you wont find on NA phones.

For example, the 2 motorola phones that my gf and I bought, had an english-chinese dictionary on them, so if we were stuck for a word, we just typed in the english, and could show the chinese characters to the person we were trying to explain something to.
