Hey Everyone!

Currently I am teaching in Korea and plan on moving to the UK in the fall, where I will take the CELTA course at Oxford House College in London.

Any tips on the pre-interview or the course itself? Or even work in London or Edinburgh?

Thanks!

Do a search also for Keyword 'tkt', Author 'fluffyhamster' - in one of the half-dozen or so resulting threads there is a link to the Glossary for the TKT (pretty much the same terminology is used in the CELTA course as in the TK Test).

Hi.

Some time ago I added some advice about preparing for and taking a CELTA course to my web site: http://www.english-international.com/CELTAadvice.html

I hope this advice is helpful to you.

Good luck!

Thank you, Jeff; this is very helpful to me.
Any chance of a 4th edition of Teaching English Overseas on the horizon?

Thanks for all your help guys! I have the interview tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Oh, and that 'CELTA without tears' link was hilarious! It really helped me relax about the whole interview and course. Thanks a lot!

Sorry but I seem to be snowed under with other stuff these days and so don't have time for writing.

While I do feel that I benefitted greatly from the CELTA, I also feel that it had a lot of room for improvement. My best advice would be to do whatever your trainer tells you to do, agree with everything they say, and change your lessons to accommodate their suggestions even if you really, truly, absolutely know there is a better way to do things. Just think of it as four weeks of sucking up to a trainer in order to get a better job. Trust me, it's better than spending two years sucking up to profs with actual connections in local schools when you're doing a B.Ed!
