I've been learning conversational Mandarin for a bit now, and would like to share my resources to people who have the foresight to get atleast a tourist's grasp of Mandarin before they head to China.
My first resource (and the one that allowed me to overcome the 4 tones in 1 lesson) is oddly enough from Youtube.com. There are 39 lessons, and the teacher is really good. They aren't extensive, but they help.

The second is from a College website, I frequent these because they also have alot of free courses, so if you homeschool yourself there's alot of other stuff to learn. MIT has alot of free courses. (None of the free stuff will get you a degree, you have to pay for that. If you like to learn, these sites are great.) This group of lessons is from California State University:

I also use this site, no clue who owns it, but I've found parts of it helpful:

If anyone has any resources that are free that'll teach me beyond these courses, I'd be appreciative. |
