Hi Everyone,

I'm in japan right now and am looking to buy this car:

2000cc (rare) 5 speed stick..(RWD!)
Electric usuals, new battery
97000 clicks, A/c works fine, plenty of
tyre tread left..
6 months of shaken left
serviced regularly using semi-synthetic
oil
and almost always filled using
high-oc(cleaner fuel for the engine)
askin around 180,000

Is it overpriced? What would you pay for it?
Thanks in advance,
Cheryl

I'd pay about 80,000 yen.
I paid 60,000 yen for a car last year that had 8 months of shaken, auto transmission, decent condition, and a/c. When shaken came up this summer, I didn't have to put a yen into it. I know I got a good deal though.

Not exactly sure what to say because you didn't say how old it is but I pretty much agree with Gordon.

I'm guessing that with 97000km done it must be old-ish. When I traded in my last car it had done 98000 and that was one of the main things that made it close to worthless to most Japanese people.

Where do you live? If you are anywhere near me - there are lots of gaijin in my area and consequently often cars going cheap when they leave.

There's a Japanese website called "goo." It's major funtion is for finding used cars. Give it a try. You'll be able to find comparable cars to what you are looking at, and then you'll know how to proceed. You'll need a Japanese friend who enjoys car shopping to sit with you though. Just find a man. It's genetic.
