|
|
Hey everyone,
We are (possibly) looking for new jobs. We work at Principal American School right now, but we're having trouble negotiating what we think we deserve. So, we're looking for other schools with kindergarten/elementary age students. We're looking for no evenings and no weekends. Has anyone had a good experience?
(I know kindergartens are technically illegal, so please don't waste your time trying to explain it to me.)
Thank you!

The problem may be 'what we think we deserve'.
Not trying to be a smart ass but Kindy's all over Taiwan can pick and choose and they generally don't pick people who are trying to demad more than the 'going rate'.
Trust me, I work for the guy who is head of the Taiwanese Kindergarten Association. He is employing teachers illegally to teach Kindy; just like thousands of other schools here. I'm sure he's aware of it but the fact is this; if you don't want to work for what he's offering there are plenty who will. |

Actually, it wasn't the salary that we were negotiating. I don't really want to go into the specifics, but it had to do with differences in how we were being treated. Anyway, we worked it out and resigned. So, we're pretty happy about it. We weren't trying to be demanding at all, in our opinion.
Just out of curiosity, what wold you call the "going rate"?
Thanks for your input.

From everything I've seen it appears to be $55 - $65 K for up to approximately 25 teaching hours per week, perhaps depending on location. |

Is that before taxes? |

I currently work at a Kojen kindergarten and really enjoy it. There are no weekend or evening hours, though if you want more hours you can work in the attached buxiban. The pay isn't amazing, but the work is a lot of fun. I get paid to play in the ball pool and go to the park with a bunch of adorable little kids. |

Although I know of a girl who worked at kindergartens full-time, but some how because the school is attached to an elementary school or something like that she was eligible for a legal ARC.
But, the word of the law is that its illegal. |
