I'm heading to Venezuela at the beginning of August to start teaching. Can anyone recommend me some good books for new English teachers? Also, if you know of any particularly good English grammar books that are good for using as a reference, please recommend as well! Thanks. |

Grammar books like Murphy's are good. Lots of people recommend Penny Ur's books too. |

...go to the "Teacher's Forum" here at Dave's...you'll find thousands of resources, books, and book ideas...
http://forums.eslcafe.com/teacher/
otherwise, walk over to your university and talk to the ESL Director or something... |

Here's a list of Must Have Books for your TEFL course Maybe you used some of them on your tefl course? If not these are the books to start off with.
I also suggest some books about Venezuela and lit by Venezuelans and other South American authors as background reading for your life outside of the classroom. |
